Information about RPG modding

1) General Modding

First up the bad news:

You will probably need a high-end PC in order to be able to create mods for this TitlePack. The main texture that we are using for most blocks for example is 8192 x 8192 pixel in size. An outdated PC will probably have a hard time saving such a huge file. I also recommend using Photoshop for editing these huge textures.

The good news:

You can become really fast at making textures for custom objects once you are set up correctly. For example the Specular and Normal textures for all objects can be made in a matter of minutes. The learning curve is steep, but it pays off. At least it did for me.

How to save the .dds files:

Diffuse    (D): DXT1 | no alpha
Specular  (S): DXT5 | interpolerated alpha
Normal   (N): 3dc | Normal Map

How the Specular textures work:

R : Fresnel intensity (matte reflections of the environment, uses the lightmap and is only visible with high quality shaders)
G : Specular intensity
B : make this 100% black
A : Glossiness (you can compare it to 'dry to wet' specularity; black = matte -- white = wet-shiny)

Performance Tips:

If your PC is a high-end PC and you are still having performance issues, you can click on the "Image Options..." button when saving a dds file and selecting the quality "Normal" or "Fastest".

When using Photoshop you can try to increase your performance by going into Edit --> Preferences --> Performance --> In the GPU options frame click on "Advanced Settings...", and then select "Advanced".

2.1) Nadeo Blocks Modding

Consult the VisualTextureGuide for Stadium to find out which textures you have to modify for which blocks.

2.2) Custom Objects Modding

Here is a list of the textures that can be modified to texture all objects included in the TitlePack:

  • StadiumSculpt2D, S, N
This is the main texture used for the majority of objects.
    Diffuse default texture size: 8192 x 8192
  • StadiumSculptD, S, N
This texture is used for terrain objects only
    Diffuse default texture size: 8192 x 4092
  • StadiumControlGlassD, S, N
This texture is used to create glass-like objects with partial transparency (Windows, bottles, Ice etc…).
    Diffuse default texture size: 8192 x 8192
  • StadiumFence_D, _S, _N
Transparent texture with only binary alpha. Used for vegetation, symbols and signs
    Diffuse default texture size: 8192 x 8192

3) Mod Hosting

Mods made specifically for this TitlePack are reviewed by the TitlePack team. In case the mod is considered worthy, it will be uploaded to rpg.vinummusik.de and included in the modspage in the TitlePack menu.
To get a mod reviewed, send an e-mail to tm2rpg@gmail.com with the subject "YourModName Review" and a download link to your mod included in the mail (you can upload for example to Dropbox).
